I took Prithvi for the once a week supply shopping. He was stepping out after 2 whole months. He picked 4 bottles of Bitter Lemon Schweppes. I did not see the price – apparently it was a wholly imported beverage – and each one was Rs.125. Felt guilty that here we are splurging on imported stuff, and families around the country are going hungry.
We decided not to buy any more of these stuff. And step up sending money to people who are helping others.
Here are some funny forwards we got this week
Even though Friday (May 1 ) ,Sat,Sunday was a long weekend, I ended up working all 3 days. Server load went up and I tried Auto scaling for the first time – but it did not have much impact. I have been optimising multiple bottle necks last few months and the bottle neck keeps shifting. Performance optimisation is a never ending job.
On company front we continued the cuts we did on March for this quarter. Over the weekend came to know that one of our competitors is giving Life Time Free – the ERP part of their product. They were giving it free wherever they were going head on head with us – but this was new – announcing out in the open. Giving the product free by a heavily VC funded company is a strategy we have been fighting for the last 10 years. However this time it is different because it is not just one – but 3 VC funded companies in the fray fighting with one ADDA. 2 of them are real estate brokering companies who have acquired companies like us – and for these companies the ERP + Visitor Management part is not their core income, they give it free. Third is the Visitor Management App startup – who is the one giving the ERP part lifetime free. The fight just went up another level. Have to sharpen our weapons and warriors.
On Saturday ADDA did a Webinar. It was well received – more than 100 participants were there. One of the presenters – Dr.Aravind gave a confidence boosting pep talk.
My Todo plate is overflowing – going into May. Have noted down a few optimisations for the server load issues. Will tackle them first.
