Sufi 2012-2026

Sufi left us on June 30th, 2026 8:30 AM.  In her home. Surrounded by all who loved her.

This was the first contact. On June 11 2016. She was a 4 year old then – rescued by CUPA from the clutches of a Laboratory. They started the “Freagles Project” – to find a loving home for the freed Beagles.

I saw the Freagles Project on Facebook and filled the google sheet – and got rejected because I told truth ( Previous experience with Dogs – nil. Both of us parents working – wont be at home during the day. ). Then I told Tutsie and she again applied and she fudged some truths 🙂  and we were invited to adopt a beagle.

Sufi’s official mom is Tutsie.

Pss : Don’t tell the Freagle project volunteers.

Btw – this is the old post when Sufi arrived into our lives [ https://kvrlogs.me/2016/06/26/sufi-returns/ ]

704. Was her number. “Names not numbers” was the campaign run by CUPA. We named her Sufi.

This was the first video after coming to our home.

Another random Sufi post – [ https://kvrlogs.me/2017/03/05/sufi/ ]

Sufi travelled with us everywhere. She terrorised Swiggy Zomato delivery guys who came to our floor.

She lived through Demonetisation ( like she cared 🙂 ) and Covid Was a constant presence in our life.

Last 2 years she became slow. She could not jump onto the Sofa – had spondylitis.

Towards mid-June her liver vitals went from bad to worse. Sufi stopped eating food. Then last day she stopped drinking water too.

Sufi will be sleeping under the dining table almost all day long.

This was the last video of Sufi.

What a beautiful creature. I always looked forward to coming back home – she will be there to greet us. No matter what time it was ( except when it was her feeding time – she will ignore us )

Now our home feels empty. Of course the 2 cats are there but they cannot fill up the house like how Sufi did.

Sufi was 14 years old. The 1st innings was for 4 years locked up in a laboratory.  They did not tell what tests they did – but Sufi had enormous fear of a 20 litre water can initially and she will go mad with fear. Later her paranoia subsided.

The 2nd innings of her life with us was for 10 years. Well fed and spoilt with cuddles by everyone.

What beautiful time we had with her. We were really lucky.

She is now resting in Hillori – one of the places where we let her free and she can roam around to her hearts content.

Whenever we will take her leash – Sufi will come running to get out of the house or get into the car for a ride.

But when we get ready to leave Hillori -she will refuse to get into the car and one of us had to carry her forcefully into the car.

Our Gardener helped bury her and gave a nice farewell puja. He mentioned that Sufi was really lucky – because when he dug a pit he did not get any stones or obstruction – Earth has to give space – and she gave space to accept Sufi.
